Preparation before Coming to the Macro Course

Before you come to the course please:

  1. Install the newest version Fiji.
  2. Download textbook.
  3. If you have problem, call Kota (ex 8404).

Details:

1. Installation of Fiji.

Fiji is a plugin-bundled distribution of ImageJ. We use this because scripting editor function is excellent.
If you already have Fiji in your machine, just do the step 2.

INSTRUCTION

step 1. Download and install Fiji

Depending on the OS of your laptop, Consult either Windows, MacOSX or Linux page.

step 2. Upgrading
Start Fiji (described in above links). If your Fiji is not in the latest condition, Fiji automatically asks you to update the program. If you see that dialog, just accept. After updating is finished, close Fiji once, restart.

Now, Do [Help → Update Fiji…]. This may invoke another round of updating. Repeat this process until everything is up-to-date.

Lastly, check if the core ImageJ file is updated. [Help > Update ImageJ]. If you see “You are running v1.47d”, then your imageJ is the latest stable version so you could cancel. Otherwise, you should click “OK”.

2. Downloading course textbook

Textbook PDF could be downloaded from here. Right click (win) or control-click (mac) the image and save the file in your local disk.

For those who are more comfortable with printed textbook, please print it by yourself.

Misc

Please bring down power extension cable (for your laptop) for the course! Those of you with PC working without external supply for more than 2hours will be ok without. Since each of you use laptop full time during the course, its always that the power supply becomes problem. Bring down extension cable with multiple sockets if you could find it in your lab.
